Updated Features for UK and Wales
The following enhancements bring Sensei Cloud up to date with NHS reforms in effect 1 April, 2026:
Enhanced Patient Name Handling
Sensei Cloud now supports apostrophes, hyphens, and spaces in patient First Name and Last Name fields. This ensures patient names can be recorded accurately as they appear on official documentation, improving data quality and NHS number matching.
(Patient > Patient Record > Personal Information)
Patient Address Transmission
The formatting of patient Address data in NHS claims has been updated to ensure compliance with updated NHS specifications, and to mitigate the risk of claim rejections due to formatting issues.
(Patient > Patient Record > Contact Information)
Updated Ethnicity Categories
The patient Ethnicity dropdown list has been updated with newly defined values. Existing ethnicity records are mapped to the new categories where possible, and disallowed values are prevented from being transmitted, ensuring compliance with NHS submission rules.
(Patient > Patient Record > Personal Information)
- White: Gypsy or Irish Traveler
- Other Ethnic Group: Arab
- Ethnicity Not Stated
- Patient Ethnicity Unknown
Improved NHS Number Capture and Validation (Wales only)
To enforce the new NHS Number requirements, Sensei Cloud now requires you to either enter an NHS Number or select a reason from the No NHS Number Reason field before a claim can be marked Ready to Send.
(Patient > Patient Record > NHS Details)
One of the following reasons must be selected for patients who do not have an NHS Number:
- Non-registered UK resident
- Non UK resident
- Data sharing consent not given
- NHS number not found
Note: This option should not be used if the patient was not asked for their number.
Note: An error message is displayed if a number or reason is not entered in this section.
Nurse Applied Fluoride Varnish (England; Dental claims only)
Two enhancements support compliance for this feature:
- Nurses with an NHS Person Number can now be added as Performers on NHS claims.
- NHS Claim submission safeguards:
- Ready to Send status option is disabled if any non-varnish treatment is present.
- Warning is displayed for patients aged 16 and older and if a prior Band 1/2/3 or nurse-varnish claim exists within 3 months under the same contract, provider, or clinician.
Denture Modifications—New Codes (England & Wales)
To comply with updated coding requirements, the option: Denture Additions/Reline/Rebase has been replaced with two options:
- Denture Relines/Rebase
- Denture Additions
This update applies to plans accepted on or after 1 April 2026. Legacy claims are processed accordingly based on the associated date.
Unscheduled Care replaces Urgent Treatment (England; Dental claims only)
To comply with labeling requirements, the Urgent Treatment designation is Unscheduled Care beginning 1 April 2026.
This update applies to the Create Treatment Plan, Charge Band, and Activity Band interfaces.
NHS Wales - Care Package Workflows
Beginning 1 April 2026, NHS Wales practices must replace the banded treatment model with care package workflows. Sensei Cloud provides the necessary updates to enable a smooth transition.
