Customers in the US have the ability to generate an Insurance Aged Receivables report. This is a report of outstanding (unpaid) insurance claims and their associated balances grouped by insurance payer for a selected reporting period.
The Insurance Aged Receivables report can be created by using the Report Generator (Location or All Locations > Financials > Report Generator). See How to Use the Report Generator for the detailed report generation procedure.
Note: Insurance Aged Receivables reports are grouped by provider, or they can also be grouped by location if you are accessing the Report Generator from the All Locations tab.
The reporting period defaults to the past two years, but this can be changed. The columns that are available for inclusion in the report vary based on the Report Format that is selected.
The available report formats are:
- Totals -- Displays the total outstanding claim balance for each insurance payer
- Totals and Subtotals -- Outstanding claim balances are grouped by insurance payer and then broken up further by insurance plan
- Totals, Subtotals, and Details -- Outstanding claim balances are grouped by insurance payer and plan, and there is also an individual line item for each claim
You can also filter the providers, insurance payers, and insurance plans that are included in the report.
The top of the generated report includes an overall Claim Count and the total Receivable Amount. The claim count includes any open claims and excludes claims that are already at a paid status or that have been rejected or denied, etc. The receivable amount is the total claim amount for the included insurance claims.
The report output displays the claims and the amount that is open, with the balances grouped into aging buckets of 0-30 Days, 31-60 Days, 61-90 Days, or 91+ Days. The aging is based on the service date of the procedures.
Note: For claims with multiple service dates, the earliest date is used for the calculations (e.g., if there is a consultation and then a visit, the date of the consultation is used).
