Sensei Cloud enables you to track patients that are referred into your practice as well as patients who have been referred out to receive care from an external provider. You can add both Incoming and Outgoing referral sources to a patient's record.
To add a referral source to a patient record:
- From the Patient Record tab, under Actions, click Edit Patient Record.
- In the Patient Referrals section, click Add Incoming Referral or Add Outgoing Referral.
- Search for the Referral source and select the referral. If not found, a box will show below with the characters you typed and then you can click Create. This will open a new Source Referral window using the characters you typed, so you may need to edit the name as needed.
- Complete the Create Referral Source screen.
Note: If the Practice Name is not found, click Create to add one. - Click Create to save the new Referral Source.
- Enter the Date of Referral and Referral Type.
Note: Referral Types can be managed from the Referral Type tab of the Referrals screen (Administration > Practice Settings > Referrals > [Select Referral Type tab]). See How to Manage Referral Sources for more information. - For outgoing referrals:
-- Select the date that the referral is expected to be due back. This defaults to one month from the current date but can be changed.
-- Add a note to go along with the referral, if needed. - Click Save Patient to save the changes to the Patient Record.
To close out an outgoing referral, return to the Patient Record and click Close next to the referral. The referral is changed to Closed and the status in the Active Referral column changes to N (No).
Click Edit to update the Referral Source details. You can also click Remove to remove a referral from the list.
Note:
-- Any incoming or outgoing referrals are also displayed on the Patient Home next to Referral (In) and Referral (Out).
-- The most recent active referral sources is also displayed in the patient's clinical chart (EMR) within the Patient Information widget. See How to Track Visits with the Clinical Chart (EMR) or Oral Surgery Clinical Chart (EMR) for more information.
-- You can send professional correspondence to any referral sources. See How to Send Professional Correspondence for more information.
