Lab Case Management Enhancements (Part II)
Following up on last month's updates to the Lab Case management and tracking features, this week's release contains the following additional enhancements:
Lab Case Management Worklist
The worklist (Location > To Do > Lab Case Management) has been updated to ensure you no longer need to scroll left/right to view all the columns. You also have more control over which columns are displayed.
- Use the
Settings cog to select which columns to display, and drag the columns to the desired order.
- Select Display Compact View to condense the row height and display more rows on the screen.
- The Status column now provides additional information. Instead of Open or Closed, it displays Open - Not Ready, Open - Received, or Closed.
- The Export Current View functionality, used to create a .CSV file, has been updated to reflect the changes to this screen.
For more information, see How to Manage Patient Lab Cases.
Lab Management
The Lab Management entry screen (Administration > Practice Settings > Labs > Create New Lab or Update Lab) now includes a Notes entry field where you can enter additional information or comments about the labs used by your practice.
For more information, see How to Enter Lab Information.
Clinical Notes: Hygienists / Clinical Staff Can Sign
In response to customer feedback, the functionality for Doctors to sign clinical notes with a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) has been extended to Hygienists and other clinical personnel.
Team members with defined clinical roles have the option in Team Member Settings (User Menu > My Settings) to create a secure PIN for themselves, and use that PIN to sign clinical notes.
The PIN must be numerical with no letters or punctuation. Administrators can see whether a provider's PIN has been defined (Administration > Team > Team Members), but only the provider can see or change their own PIN.
For more information, see How to Create or Edit a Team Member (US), How to Add or Edit a Team Member (UK), and How to Create a Provider PIN for Signing Clinical Notes.
Signing a Clinical Note
When you create a clinical note, there are options to Save, and Save & Sign. When Save & Sign is selected, you are prompted to enter a PIN. The Provider field defaults to the logged-in user if a PIN is set up, but you can select other providers from the list of providers with PINs.
Providers using a PIN to sign notes can also update and sign notes from the Clinical Notes Worklist (Location or All Locations > To Do).
For more information, see How to Add Event-Based Clinical Notes and How to Use the Clinical Notes Worklist.
Insurance Plan Associated Patients Display (US Only)
The Insurance Plans list in the US (Administration > Insurance > Plans) now enables you to view a list of patients associated with each plan. Click on the number in the PTs column to display a list of associated patients, along with the total Balance and Status (Active/Inactive) of the patient. Click the Patient name to access their Snapshot and navigate to additional patient features.Note: The patient Status relates to the patient account, not insurance policy eligibility or status.
Defects and Small Enhancements
42 additional items were addressed.
