Product Enhancements and New Features
Perio Charting Enhancements
In response to customer feedback, the Perio Charting interface (Patient > Clinical > Perio Chart) has been updated to improve the data entry and navigation workflows.
- A new expand-screen button has been added when recording a new exam or editing an existing exam. Use this button to expand to full-screen mode, enabling you to see all the entry fields at once. Click the button again to return to the normal screen size.
- Lingual/Facial toggle buttons enable you to move quickly between Lingual and Facial entry fields for the selected tooth number when charting the condition of each tooth. Arrows on either side help you quickly navigate to the next or previous tooth.
- Entries that meet or exceed the defined problem threshold now appear in red, to make it easier to identify issues at a glance and present them to the patient. This occurs only when problem thresholds are flagged and defined. For more information, see How to Set or Change Periodontal Problem Thresholds.
Note: Additional enhancements coming soon will include double-digit pocket depth entry.
- When you navigate away from a perio chart while entering or editing values, you are prompted to either: Stay & Edit, Abandon Changes & Leave, or Save Changes & Leave. This safeguard helps prevent you from losing your work if you are interrupted mid-exam to perform another task.
For more information, see How to Create a Perio Chart.
Anesthesia Records / Vital Signs Monitor Integrations (US Only)
Sensei Cloud Oral Surgery customers who use the Anesthesia Record feature of the Clinical Chart (EMR) can now integrate with a vital signs monitor to record data related to the patient's condition before, during, and after a procedure in which anesthesia is administered.
As part of the surgical workflow, you can use a connected monitor to collect a one-off vitals snapshot during pre-op or post-op, as well as ongoing periodic values at 5-minute intervals during surgery.
For more information, see How to Create an Anesthesia Record.
Setup and Configuration
Sensei Cloud currently supports integration with the Poet Plus 8100 and nCompass 8100H monitors from Criticare Technologies, Inc. To set up and configure your vital signs monitor, select Administration > Devices & Integration > Connected PCs. For more information, see How to Set Up Vitals Monitor Integration.
Signing and Managing Clinical Notes
Sensei Cloud now enables doctors in your practice to sign clinical notes with a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN), as part of a process for tracking and managing clinical notes. A Clinical Notes Worklist has been added to the Location > To Do menu, so that you can manage clinical notes entered for a selected day, obtain signatures, and create notes for clinical events that need them.
PIN for Doctors
A PIN entry field has been added to the Team Member Settings (Administration > Team) for all users whose Role is defined as Doctor. This number is visible only to individual doctors, who set their own PIN by selecting User Menu > My Settings > Edit Selected Team Member. The PIN must be numerical with no letters or punctuation.
Note: Administrators can see whether a doctor's PIN has been defined, but they cannot see or change a doctor's PIN.
For more information, see How to Create a Doctor PIN for Signing Clinical Notes.
Signing Clinical Notes
A Save & Sign button is displayed on the Clinical Note window when creating a new note or editing an existing note.
A Sign button is displayed for existing notes not yet signed.
After entering or editing a clinical note, select Save & Sign or Sign to display the Clinical Note Approval window.
The Provider field defaults to the logged-in doctor, but other doctors can be selected from the list if a PIN is defined for them. When an eligible doctor is selected, the PIN field becomes active. The selected doctor can enter the PIN and click Sign.
When a clinical note is signed, the status Note Signed is indicated in the Clinical Notes list and the note's history.
Note: When a signed clinical note is edited, it must be re-signed to acknowledge the changes.
For more information, see How to Add Event-Based Clinical Notes.
Clinical Notes Worklist
The Clinical Notes Worklist (Location > To Do) provides a list of patients with clinical events on the selected date but no associated clinical note (Notes Needed column) and/or clinical notes that exist but have not been signed by a doctor (Notes To Be Signed column).
- Worklist is populated from events on a patient's Dental Chart/Hard Tissue Chart, Clinical Chart (EMR), or Orthodontic Clinical Summary.
- Worklist is Location based unless All Locations is selected.
- Date defaults to the current day. List items are for appointments or actions associated with the selected day and location. Use the date selector to address items associated with previous dates.
- List defaults to All Providers. Use the Notes for filter to select individual doctors.
- Filter by Needed, Unsigned, or Both.
- Click a line item to expand the details and take actions.
- Click the pencil icon to open the Clinical Note window to create a note for the listed event or update/sign an existing note.
- Use the appropriate buttons to access the Patient Record or Patient Chart.
For more information, see How to Use the Clinical Notes Worklist.
